In the southern hemisphere, on dairy farms and ranches, calves are usually born early in spring, August, September and October, when there is the promise of plenty of green summer grass to come. As an artist, this is one of my favorite times of year. This dear little heifer jersey calf was named Velvet, and it is so easy to get lost in her big trusting eyes.
